A Typeform alternative for people who mostly need an intake form
· TinyX · 4 min read
You need eight answers from every new client: name, email, phone, what they need, budget, deadline, how they found you, and anything else.
You open Typeform, build something lovely with a progress bar, and then see that the paid Basic plan includes 100 responses a month.
For eight questions, that's a lot of form.
Do you need a Typeform alternative, or just a form?
Typeform is very good at what it does. Conversational one-question-at-a-time forms, logic, polished design, and plenty of integrations. If your form is part of your marketing, it earns its price.
Most intake forms aren't marketing. They're admin. You want the answers in a spreadsheet and you want the client to finish the form on their phone.
What Typeform costs in 2026
As of 9 October 2026, Typeform's pricing page lists Basic at $39 (USD) a month billed monthly, or $28 a month billed yearly ($468 a year), with 100 responses a month and 1 user.
Plus is $79 a month billed monthly (1,000 responses a month) and Business is $129 a month billed monthly (10,000 responses a month).
Typeform also has a free plan, which it describes as basic features with a limited number of responses each month.
Tally: the free plan that beats ours
If what you want is free, Tally is hard to beat.
Its free plan gives you unlimited forms and submissions within fair use, plus file uploads up to 10 MB, logic, payments, webhooks and password-protected forms. Pro is $29 (USD) a month billed monthly, or $24 a month billed yearly.
On free forms alone, Tally beats TinyX. Our free plan includes 5 questionnaires. If forms are all you need, start with Tally.
Google Forms and Jotform are the other usual choices. Google Forms is free with a Google account, and Jotform has a free Starter plan with Jotform branding.
Where TinyX questionnaires fit
TinyX questionnaires are for people who already use TinyX for links or files and want intake in the same place.
You write the form in markdown, share it on a short link, and get answers in a CSV export. Respondents don't sign up for anything.
You get 5 questionnaires on Free, 50 on Pro and unlimited on Max, as shown on the pricing page. On Free, sharing a form uses one of your 25 links a month.
A new response can fire a webhook, so the answers can go straight to your team chat or your own system. Free includes 1 webhook, Pro 5 and Max 20.
A plain intake template you can copy
The point of markdown is that the form is just text. A basic client intake looks like a short list of questions you could write in an email, and you can change it in a minute.
We wrote out full templates for specific trades: a law firm client intake form, a restaurant feedback form and a catering enquiry form.
Where the answers go, and what we keep
Unlike files on Pro and Max, responses aren't end-to-end encrypted, and they stay in your account with the respondent's IP address and location until you delete them.
If you collect anything sensitive, keep the form short and delete responses once you've moved them into your own system.
If a client needs to send documents alongside the form, use an upload link (Pro and Max) rather than asking for attachments.
What you'd miss from Typeform
Typeform's one-question-at-a-time design, its logic, its themes and its integrations are all deeper than ours. Our questionnaires are deliberately plain. If design or branching matters to you, Typeform or Tally is the better tool.
